Winter is Here!

It has been a few months since our last post and I apologize to all our faithful readers. We have had a busy few months with puppy kindergarten (Yes, Wrigley graduated), Halloween, parent/teacher conferences, fall break, and Thanksgiving. As we now gear up for Christmas it finally hit me that winter is here! It could have been the chattering teeth of 8 year old kids or the constant "Mrs. Cherry!!!!! Can we go in yet?????" that made this reality bite. Nonetheless I realized that it's going to be COLD for the next few months and I'm not ready for it! The trips to the park and long walks around the neighborhood are going to have to wait until Spring. I'm learning I'm a fare-weather dog owner.

Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to...nothing much but watching Wrigley grow.

Wrigley and her diploma from puppy kindergarten.

Wrigley is trained on her radio collar...although a worthy distraction will get her zapped.

My New Home

I heard from my owners that many of you are wondering how we are getting along and what I've been up to during my first two weeks with Mom and Dad. Well, things are going GREAT! I have had so many "firsts" over the past week or so. One night, I saw this puppy in the door...it followed me! When I sat, it sat and when I turned my head, it turned its head. So finally I just gave my best growl and barked for the first time! Mom and Dad started laughing, they said it was a reflection...whatever that is. I'm hoping I have scared it away for good. I have been enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten and my first class is next Saturday. Mom and Dad have been working hard with me on sitting, down, and come. They keep calling me Wrigley...I'm learning that is an important word to know. I have also been going in this thing called a car. We end up at fun places once I get out...a park by the river, some friends' houses, a playground, baseball practice and some kids sporing events. Last week I became friends with the neighbors Rottweiler, Delta. We have become fast friends and go on nightly walks together. I know it's only been two weeks but this is the best home ever and I'm loving my new house and family!

Wrigley (I think) :)

Welcome Wrigley

Matt and I have added a new member to The Cherry Family...Wrigley! Yes, after the Chicago Cubs, if you ask Matt her middle name is Field!
We have survived our first week of being "parents" and so far so good. She doesn't whine at night and loves to be near us when she is awake. Our first week together has been full of new things! Wrigley had her first vet appointment, a bath, her first walk on a leash, and found her reflection in the sliding-glass door. This provided much entertainment for Matt and me as she watched herself turn her head, walk back and forth and eventually barked at her reflection. Wrigley has been the hit of the neighborhood! It's so funny how a puppy can have complete strangers coming up and talking to you (I'm guessing it's much like a new baby). Anyway...Matt and I have met more people in our neighborhood in the first week with Wrigley than in the two years we have lived here. I just wanted to post a few pictures for those of you that have not seen her yet. Enjoy! She's a cutie!

Throw Back to the 80s!

Last weekend Kate Mavis (soon to be Greene) had her bachelorette party in Chicago. We decided to hit the town in 80s high fashion. The mission in the week leading up to the party was to find the "best" 80s bridesmaid dress possible. We were also able to find a lovely 80s wedding dress number for Kate! The dress was actually the last gift Kate opened and then the party began! As part of the getting ready festivities we went to town on hair, makeup, dress alterations, and drinks. Enjoy the pictures and may I suggest...keep this in mind if you are throwing someone a bachleorette party. A GREAT time was had by all!

Back to Schooooool!!!

It's that time of year again! Time to buy school supplies, get new "teaching" clothes, and prepare to impact children's educational paths for the next 39 weeks. The funny thing is I think I get as excited about new Sharpies every year as my students do for new pencils and backpacks.
Matthew and I have spent the last few days getting our classrooms as well as our attitudes ready for another school year. It's hard to get back in gear after having so much time off. I know we should be grateful because people with "real" jobs only get a few weeks a year...but still! When consulting Matthew on this blog update his only statement was, "School's starting, life sucks."

June, July, & August

There are three GREAT reasons to be a teacher! YES...June, July, & August!
Matt and I have been taking full advantage of our time off from teaching. We have managed to fill the summer schedule with one week trips here-and-there. At the end of June we were in West Palm Beach, where Matt was coaching an Indiana All-Star team in a baseball tournament. We were able to enjoy the sunshine, beach, and our second anniversary together. Last week we were in Battle Creek visiting my mom and grandparents. The week was packed with golf, competitive games of dominos, a few movies and lots of great food. Matt was also able to experience a few BC firsts while in town...The Binder Park Zoo, Turkeyville USA, and The Barn Theater. Being the new bloggers that we are, we didn't even think to take pictures to share with everyone. Matt feeding the giraffes would have been a great one! We'll try to remember next time. So, as summer continues so do our travels. We'll be sure to keep you all updated!

Wild West Adventure 2006

A Baseball Coach's Dream!

Our favorite park by far was Glacier National Park

Bear Tooth Pass into Yellowstone National Park

Arches National Park

We did a drive by of the Grand Canyon on the way home.

It took us 20 days and almost 7,000 miles to cover 10 National Parks. The Corn Palace and Wall Drug Store in South Dakota were a few of the random stops along the way. It was a fantastic trip and we enjoyed exploring all that our country had to offer. There are hundreds more pictures and crazy stories for those that are interested in seeing and hearing more!

Here We Are!

It has been so much fun reading and checking out everyone's blogs. I have loved to see what everyone has been up to so...my summer project is to create a blog of our own. Now you can all read about us.

WOW! It's amazing how fast hours turn into days and days into years! I feel so old in saying...It seems like only yesterday we were in collage. Here's our attempt to catch everyone up on what has been going on since graduation in 2003.
Matthew Cherry and I were married on the hottest day in June 2005. We bought a house and YES it's on Cherry Blossom Dr. Matthew is the varsity baseball coach and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) leader. I'm teaching 3rd grade and enjoying every minute! We have found a wonderful church that is our home away from home! We were connected with a wonderful small group from church and have enjoyed learning and growing together for the past three years. Matthew and I love to travel together and having our summers off together allows us to hit the road. Last summer we went on a three week camping trip across the western part of the USA. It was amazing to see all that God created here in our own backyard. I will try to get some pictures from the past few years on here for all to see.
